The term "canai" derives either from: Chennai, a city in India which is formerly known as Madras.. Roti canai is presumed to have been introduced by immigrant labour from the Madras region where a similar combination of prata and dalcha - the accompanying lentil curry - is served. The local always order the roti from Chennai as the maker came from Chennai, India not China.
Nowadays some people need two pieces of roti canai to keep them going. The ideal roti is flat, fluffy on the inside but crispy and flaky on the outside. Enjoy while its still at RM 0.90 cents per piece.
